Lately we see this article in the Global Research website, shared on FB. When we see the name Global Research, we expect the information that is published there, to be researched before it is published. We can expect lies from a Palestinian website, but this is surprising.
They claim that the Israeli Rabbi Asks West Bank Settlers to Poison Palestinian Water. But is this true? They do not seem to care as well as those who share it.
The name of this Rabbi “Mlma” with its missing vowel, is not Hebrew and probably not existed name.
There is nothing called the Council of Rabbis in The West Bank Settlements. No Jews living in Judea and Samaria would refer to them as the “West Bank Settlements”! The closest thing is the Council of Rabbis in Judea and Samaria, whose CEO is Yishai Babad. When contacted, he denied knowledge of any Rabbi of that name or such a decree.
There were two rabbis of the settlement of Beit El their name are Shlomo Aviner and Zalman Melamed. Probably those who made up this story, just did not get the right information of the full name of the Rabbis. As it is anyways made up story, they felt pretty well with a made up name.
There is also something called the Yesha Council, which is an umbrella organization of municipal councils of Jewish ‘settlements’ in Judea and Samaria (and formerly in the Gaza Strip). Its chairman is Avi Roeh, not “Rabbi Shlomo Mlma.”
As well, they claim Breaking The Silence as the organization that brought this to light. But this organization is about collecting “testimonies” from IDF soldiers to paint Israel in a bad light. And not to deal with Rabbis. Whoever made up this story confused Breaking the Silence with B’Tselem.
A small search reveals only some of the most extreme Israel hating sites are running this. Even Haaretz did not report it.
The picture claiming this is the imaginary Rabbi is of a real Rabbi but his name is Yisrael Eichler and he is minister in the Knesset.
In Brussels Abbas that does not spare on propoganda against Israel mentioned that imaginary Rabbi. He was condemned by Israel and UN by false blood label accusations. As it went viral his office issued a retraction:
“After it has become evident that the alleged statements by a rabbi on poisoning Palestinian wells, which were reported by various media outlets, are baseless, President Abbas has affirmed that he didn’t intend to do harm to Judaism or to offend Jewish people around the world,” his office said in a statement.
But Jew haters will keep spreading this lie because truth does not matter to them, when it is about hate.
